Distribution and Outreach

The mission of the Welcome Home Project is to bridge the historic divide between civilian and military worlds through the production and distribution of the documentary film, Voices of Vets (working title).

In order to have as wide an impact as possible, we will enter the film in appropriate festivals world-wide, seek theatrical release and national and international television or internet broadcast. Most important, however, the film will be distributed locally around the country where it will be used to create appropriate and meaningful programs and ceremonies designed to reconnect veterans, their families and their communities in greater understanding, awareness and mutual support.

We have already begun to contact churches, vet centers and hospitals, civic organizations, libraries, Colleges and Universities, etc., around the United States.  Our ultimate goal is to have the film used in thousands of local communities to encourage similar programs and to show veterans that the public is interested and willing to be involved.  The film will help educate the public about veterans and their families in the aftermath of war and will catalyze long avoided conversations between veterans of all wars and members of the public. This is already happening in Ashland, OR, where the Welcome Home Project took place, and in Portland, OR, where Michael Meade led a second retreat.

The Government and the Veterans Administration certainly needs to do their part, but without this direct involvement of the civilian public many veterans will continue to carry the burdens of their war alone and all of our communities miss out on the depth and wisdom brought home by our returning warriors.

Please help to make this film a reality.  Make a donation now.

We will use this site to keep interested readers informed about our progress, endorsements, local screenings, local efforts, etc.  If you would like to help promote the film in some way please contact us.
